…When you brush your teeth with your electric toothbrush. …When you use your blow dryer to dry your hair. …When you cook your dinner in a microwave or electric cooktop …When you touch the dimmer switch to turn the lights on or off. …When you make that morning call on your mobile phone on the way in to work. …When you browse your tablet or sit at your computer.
EMFs are our constant invisible companions that come with the convenience of modern technology.
Because… modern technology is fuelled by electromagnetic energy. Energy comprised of electricity and magnetic forces working together. EMFs are the invisible spaces of energy around a source, those household items, creating “ElectroMagnetic Fields.” EMFs exist in nature as well. They’re part of the earth’s magnetic field, thunderstorms, even our own bodies. EMR (electromagnetic radiation) and ELF (extremely low frequency) and RF (radio frequency) are other related terms in this complicated realm of science.
Sunlighten Saunas EMF reading is at .5 mG
Normal hair dryer EMF reading is around 200 mG
Regular household vacuum EMF reading is 300 mG

Understanding EMF Safety Standards
Part of the confusion we all feel about EMFs stems from the fact that despite all the studies done to determine safe levels, the research is inconclusive. Or contradictory. Or communicated in different measurements that don’t give us apples to apples comparisons. With mixed and often conflicting information and no concrete government standards to follow, we are left to try to figure it out for ourselves and find voices we trust.
Meet Vitatech Electromagnetics. They’re world-renowned engineers who have set the standard for EMF research, testing and safety. They’ve been the industry leader for 25+ years. EMFs are measured in mG (milli Guass) units. Vitatech has set the industry standard as 10mG or less as “ultra low.” Many items you use every day emit EMFs ranging from your toaster (3 to 70 mG) to your hair dryer (60 to 200 mG) to your blender (200 to 1,200 mG) for example.
The Facts About Sunlighten Saunas & EMF
We know our consumers are concerned about EMF safety, and so are we. We recently brought in the world-renowned EMF research experts – Vitatech Electromagnetics – to test our saunas. They brought the highest tech equipment and standardized testing process to give the most precise results that you need to feel comfortable and confident with your purchase.
Vitatech’s conclusion: Our saunas are completely safe. Our EMF levels are lower than 95 percent of common household devices. VitaTech’s testing concluded Sunlighten heater panels measure 0.5 mG or less. That’s less than 1 mG! This is the latest and most current validation that you can rest assured your Sunlighten infrared sauna has lower levels of EMF than many common household products. Any time you spend inside your saunas will be safer than using your hair dryer or vacuuming your rug, which are safe activities, too!
Watch as our team explains complicated EMF safety in a way that is easy to understand, and see for yourself how the Vitatech team tests our saunas.
This recent test is just one of many we’ve conducted through the years. Since our beginning, Sunlighten has been committed to the highest standards of safety in our saunas. We’ve studied, learned, tested and made changes to our products over the last 20 years. And as we learned more about EMF, engaging experts in the process, we ensured that our product design minimized and mitigated EMF levels to the lowest possible. We invested in 3rd party testing companies regularly to measure and validate the safety of our saunas. The last thing you want to worry about when seeking health and wellness tools is concern over things like EMF, ELF, RFs making them unhealthy. With Sunlighten saunas, you don’t have to worry.

mPulse® 3 in 1 Sauna
Our patented Solocarbon® 3-in-1® is the only sauna heater on the market to provide near, mid, and far infrared wavelengths in one place with 6 built-in wellness programs customizable to each user.
What is truly important when buying an infrared sauna – Safety and Effectiveness
When purchasing a sauna, your top two priorities should be safety and effectiveness. Solocarbon heating technology is the foundation for all of our sauna products. It is the only heater on the market clinically shown to raise core temperature, lower blood pressure and aid in weight loss. Solocarbon panels contain a unique proprietary blend of materials that are 100% quality controlled by Sunlighten®. This means – unlike other saunas on the market – we can ensure the safety & effectiveness of each individual heater. Not only have our saunas been electrically certified to meet safety and performance standards, they have also been environmentally tested and approved for no off-gassing. Visit our website to view our safety certifications.
If you are purchasing a sauna for health benefits, the single most important element to consider is heater emissivity which determines how efficient infrared heat is conducted and emitted. If a sauna is not efficient at emitting infrared, you are not receiving the benefits! Generic carbon blend heaters are less than 85% effective. Solocarbon heaters are 95-99% efficient at emitting infrared. When researching infrared saunas, always ask for emissivity data on the specific heater you are considering. This determines the quality and effectiveness of infrared heat.
Sunlighten contracted the services of Bruker Analytical Services to verify the emissivity of several heater materials. Emissivity is the ability of a material to absorb and release energy in the form of infrared heat. To best measure emissivity, we measured the reflection of energy off of a heater and subtracted that from 1 to calculate the emissivity.
